Wandering Flight of Icarus

The photographs follow the Greek myth of Icarus and his father Daedalus, who are locked in a tower on the island of Crete. They escape by means of wings that Daedalus fashions out of feathers and wax. The myth seems to serve as a metaphorical lesson to take the “middle way,” between hubris and complacency. This project was commissioned by the Portland Museum of Art, Portland, Maine. Many of the photographs were made in the historic McLellan House wing of the museum.
